Information For

Housing for International Students

On-Campus Housing
Once you are accepted to the university, you will receive information about on-campus housing (residence halls). If you do not receive this information, contact the international student adviser immediately. First-year students (freshmen) are required to live on campus.

Reserving a Room
To reserve a residence hall room for the year, you must return the completed and signed contract to the Residential Living office as soon as possible. With the contract, include a check or money order for $100 for housing prepayment. Residential Living will notify you of your residence hall assignment.

Meal Plan
As a residence hall student you will be required to purchase a university meal plan. There are a variety of options for the meal plan, including a specific number of meals per week with or without a declining balance. Costs of the plan range from $ 795 to $ 1,275 per semester.

Laundry & Phone Facilities
Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in the residence halls. Local telephone service is provided in each residence hall room. Students are required to bring a phone with them. Long distance service is not provided, therefore, you should purchase a calling card to make any long distance calls.

Graduate & Married Student Housing
Another on-campus housing option for graduate and married students is Robertson Hall, an apartment complex. The meal plan is not required if you live in Robertson. You may prefer to request this option if you have special dietary preferences or requirements and wish to cook your own meals.

Hall Closings
If you reside in a WCU residence hall, be aware that these halls are closed for major holidays, such as between fall and spring semesters, spring and summer semesters, and summer and fall semesters. Everyone living in the halls must leave during these periods. However, this restriction does not apply to residents of Robertson Hall. You may leave all personal belongings in your residence hall room between the fall and spring semesters only, unless you live in Robertson Hall.

If you are living in a residence hall and need a place to stay during periods when the hall is closed, your options are:

1. You may stay in Robertson Hall if space is available. You will be charged at the standard monthly rate.

2. You may find temporary housing in the apartment of a student living off-campus.
