CEAP Professional Development for Educators

We are delighted to offer the following professional development opportunities sponsored by SUTEP and centers/offices in the College of Education and Allied Professions. Please check this page often to be sure you don't miss an important event!

Beginning Teacher Induction Symposium - A collaborative effort among Western’s Center for the Support of Beginning Teachers (CSBT), SUTEP, and Western North Carolina school systems, the symposium fulfills two of the three professional development days required for new teachers in North Carolina. Mentor Training - (for teachers who have never been trained as a mentor) At the request of WNC school systems, this year's training is a blended program - 2 days are face-to-face + online discussions/assignments. Topics include instructional walk-through training and introduction to the new teacher standards/evaluation. Teachers of Tomorrow Reaching to Teach Conferences (TOT) - Teachers of Tomorrow Reaching to Teach is a conference for middle school, high school, and community college students who are interested in exploring teaching as a career. Professional educators and speakers lead breakout sessions presenting information on topics related to college access, scholarships and financial aid, diversity issues, teaching in a diverse world, admissions processes, WCU campus tours, and how to choose a college or university.
