AmeriCorps ADVANCE Program
The NC-ACTS! AmeriCorps Program is now the ADVANCE Program.
ADVANCE (AmeriCorps Dedicated to VA & NC Children Excelling) is an AmeriCorps Education Award Program created by North Carolina Campus Compact. Through this program, students mentor at-risk K-12 students.
Members in ADVANCE are required to:
- Complete 300 hours of service (a minimum of 5 hours per week of direct contact with mentee(s))
- Complete 3 critical reflections (as a group) and 2 online reflections (individually)
- Coordinate with other Members and mentees to implement two community improvement projects (one tied to a national Day of Service)
- Attend a program orientation and two training events
Upon completion of the program, the Member will receive an educational award of $1,175. This award can be used for previously incurred or future educational expenses and is valid for 7 years.
