AAM Project
To address the needs of beginning teachers in years 2-4, The Adventures of the American Mind (AAM) in collaboration with Western’s Center for the Support of Beginning Teachers and School University Teacher Education Partnership, sponsored a workshop Monday August 11, 2008. The workshop, “Interacting with Primary Sources,” was held on the campus of Western Carolina University.
Twenty beginning teachers of grades 5-12 in the seven most western NC school systems attended the workshop. Participant schools receive an interactive white board device to help these new teachers fully utilize Library of Congress – American Memory primary sources and resources.
The Western Carolina University AAM Partnership has served Western North Carolina school systems since 2000. Teachers have participated in a variety of classes and workshops, creating unit plans, lesson plans and activities involving the use of Library of Congress primary sources.
