The College of Education and Allied Professions has once again stepped up its efforts to support new teachers by hosting the annual Beginning Teacher Induction Symposium. A collaborative effort among Western’s Center for the Support of Beginning Teachers (CSBT), School University Teacher Education Partnership (SUTEP), and Western North Carolina school systems, the symposium fulfills two of the three professional development days required for new teachers in North Carolina.

One highlight of the symposium is the poster session. Representatives from museums, centers, and other organizations from the university and across the state provide beginning teachers with information and resources to support their efforts to help students achieve success.

The Mid-Year Induction Symposium, held in January, is organized for new teachers hired after the opening of school.
