Beginning teachers must adjust to the pace of the school day, the demands of record keeping, complex issues of classroom management, multiple learning styles, and high-stakes accountability. We’ve gathered the following resources to ease your way as a beginning teacher.

Professional Organizations
Professional organizations are great resources for new teachers and many offer reduced membership fees for first-year teachers. Check out the organizations for your grade level/content area.

Individualized Growth Plan (IGP)
The Beginning Teacher Individualized Growth Plan (IGP) is used to document professional growth and development of North Carolina teachers in their first three years of teaching and is focused on the INTASC Standards. Find out more about developing your first IGP.
