Make an Appointment
To schedule a Writing Appointment:
- Call 828-227-7197
- If your paper is more than six pages long (double-spaced), follow the instructions provided by the WaLC receptionist. If we do not receive your paper in time for your tutor to read it in advance, your appointment will be cancelled.

What to bring to your writing appointment:
- Assignment sheet or the requirements for your paper
- Two hard copies of your paper or one hard copy and your laptop. If you’ve e-mailed your paper and assignment in advance, you need to bring only one hard copy or your laptop.
- A list of issues you would like to address in the session. Visit our Evaluating Your Own Writing page to help you determine what you’d like to work on during your session.
To schedule a Course Tutoring Appointment or Academic Skills Consultation:
- Log in to TutorTrac
- Once in TutorTrac, click “Search Availability” in the box on the left of the screen
- Select “WaLC course tutoring” from the Center drop-down menu on the left
- Select your class or “Academic Skills Consultation” from the “Section” drop-down menu
- Do not change any of the other search criteria
- Click Search
- Appointment availabilities are shaded in yellow and drop-in tutoring hours (no appointment needed) are shaded in green
- Click on your preferred appointment time and enter your information in the Phone and Notes fields

- Call 828-227-2274 if you have any problems using TutorTrac to schedule your appointments
- Tutoring appointments and Academic Skills Consultations must be scheduled 24 hours in advance using the online TutorTrac program
- If there are no tutors available for your course, talk to your professor outside of class. All professors have office hours and are available to meet with you during those times to answer your questions.

What to bring to your course tutoring sessions:
- Class notes, textbook, supplemental readings, assignments, and a copy of the course syllabus
- A list of topics you would like to review with the tutor and/or a list of questions you have about the material
