Program gets NPS grant for sea-level rise study
WCU’s Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines is recipient of a $239,000 grant from the National Park Service to assist the agency in identifying and protecting resources threatened by coastal erosion and future sea-level rise.

Early registration available for WCU’s Rooted in the Mountains symposium
The second annual Rooted in the Mountains symposium at Western Carolina University will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, and Friday, Oct. 21, in the Grandroom of the A.K. Hinds University Center. Geology program gets grant for research
Two faculty members from WCU’s geology program have been awarded a National Science Foundation grant to use in examining the learning benefits of group undergraduate research while also investigating how water is routed through the ground in Western North Carolina.

Young named geological society fellow
Rob Young, professor of geology and director of the Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines, has been elected a fellow of the Geological Society of America.
