About WCU
Western Carolina University is one of the sixteen constituent institutions of the statewide University of North Carolina system. This campus has been the site of Summer Ventures institutes since the inception of the program.
Western is located in Cullowhee, in a rural valley between the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains. The central campus covers about 233 acres, including beautifully wooded areas and modern academic, student residence, recreation and athletic facilities. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cherokee Indian Reservation, Fontana Lake and numerous resort areas offer golfing, skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, water sports, and recreational opportunities nearby.
