Office of Teaching Fellows

The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program has a long tradition of excellence in teacher education—more than 115 years—and WCU’s Teaching Fellows Program was one of the original nine established by the State of North Carolina.

We currently have approximately 152 active Teaching Fellows who are excited that you’re considering a career in teaching and are curious about our program.

The Teaching Fellowship Scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Students must be North Carolina residents and high school seniors;
  • Applications are due in late October;
  • The award is $26,000 over four years;
  • Recipients must teach in a North Carolina public school for four years;
  • Summer conferences and opportunities for international travel are part of the program.

Come learn more about the program—read about the scholarship and application process, meet our staff and Teaching Fellows, and preview the seminars and activitiestravel opportunities, and resources available to you.

Enjoy exploring our website, and please contact us if you’d like additional information.
