Teaching and Research:
Annette Debo teaches classes in modernism, African American literature, literary theory, and womens literature. Her monograph The American H.D. is forthcoming from the University of Iowa Press in spring 2012; she is the co-editor of the MLA volume Approaches to Teaching H.D.'s Poetry and Prose (available December 2011); and she is the co-chair of the H.D. International Society. Her articles have appeared in African American Review, Callaloo, Paideuma, South Atlantic Review, Quarterly Review of Film and Video, CLA Journal, and College Literature. She was awarded a Faculty Research and Creative Activities Grant by Western for 2011-2012 in order to edit an edition of H.D.'s Within the Walls, a volume of short stories written in London in the midst of the Blitz. Her book-in-progress is Furious Flowers All, which explores the response to violence during the Civil Rights Movement in the poetry of Gwendolyn Brooks, Sonia Sanchez, and Natasha Trethewey.
