WCU student brass quintet to perform at A-B Tech May 2
5/1/2008 - Western Carolina University’s Brass Quintet will perform at the inauguration of Betty Young, the fourth president at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, on Friday, May 2.
Composed entirely of students from Western’s School of Music, the quintet features graduate student Chris Kristich of Lexington, Ky., on trumpet, and four undergraduates – music performance senior Billy Dellinger of Vienna, Va., on trumpet; music education senior Andrew Jenkins of Franklinville on tuba; music education sophomore Liz Morantz of Crete, Ill., on horn; and music education junior Matt Ratliff of Asheville on trombone.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to represent Western Carolina University in the Asheville community,” said Kristich, who is earning his master’s degree in music.
“This celebration will be an important event in Asheville,” said Patsy Miller, director of WCU programs in Asheville. “Having our music students contribute to the event is an example of the excellent relationship we have with A-B Tech and also will display our student talent to the community.”
