Available Services
General Medical Care
Health services is available to WCU employees in those instances where assessment and treatment is needed for minor illnesses or injuries. Common problems treated in health services include many non-life-threatening medical problems such as allergies, coughs, cold, flu, sinus infections, and rashes.
UHS medical providers are not available to serve as the employee's primary care physician for acute and/or chronic medical conditions. WCU faculty and staff are urged to consult with their primary care provider for all non-emergency health care needs.
Workers' Compensation
Employees who are injured on the job may receive care at UHS. Workers' compensation visits will be charged directly to the department in which the employee works. Employees are responsible for following university and department policies and procedures for reporting workers' compensation injuries.
Fees and Payment
Fees and Eligibility All employee who pay the $3 monthly access fee via payroll deduction are eligible to receive three office visits each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Employees who exceed three visits can continue to receive services but will be required to pay an office visit charge of $75 for each visit thereafter. (See Univeristy Policy #80 for eligibility requirements)Services such as labratory tests, procedures, allergy shots, and medications are not included in the office visit charge and will be charged seperately to the employee.
Payment
Payment for services is required at the time of service. Pursuant to State Statute university employees that have outstanding debt with state agencies are subject to wage garnishment until the debt obligation has been satisfied.
UHS cannot file health insurance claims, although a receipt and appropriate claim form can be provided upon patient request.
UHS accepts cash, check, and all major credit cards.
