Medical Services
Allergy Clinic/Immunizations - Allergy injections are administered at the student health center. To participate in this service, students should bring their allergy serum and physician's orders for the administration of the allergy injections to the allergy clinic. Immunizations are available at the health center.  Required immunization Tdap, Td Boosters, MMR and PPD are given free of charge. Hepatitis B, Gardasil and Flu vaccine are available at a nominal fee and are not covered under the university supported student health plan.

Contraceptive Options- Consultation and management for all contraceptives are available at the health center. Currently offered at the health center are: Solia (pills), Cesia (pills), and Nuva Ring. Other options are available; however not dispensed through the health center pharmacy. Appointments are required for birth control initiation.

Nutrition Education - Contact the dietitian at 227-2088 or kawhite@wcu.edu to set-up a consultation or schedule a program for nutrition related issues. For more information, click here.

STI Screening – Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections such as Chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, and Gonorrhea is available at a charge. Charges for these services are not covered under the university supported student health plan. For more information about other STI test such as Syphilis and HIV please contact the UHC.

Laboratory Tests – Limited laboratory testing is performed at the UHC. For a complete listing of labs and fees please contact the UHC.

Physicals - Comprehensive physical examinations for employment, internships, participation in athletics, etc. are provided. An appointment is required for ALL physicals.

Ambulance Service - WCU EMS is a student staffed emergency ambulance service serving the WCU community. All medics are certified EMT's. WCU EMS is supervised by the health center and WestCare EMS service. This service is in operation 24/7, during Fall and Spring classes. To obtain EMS assistance dial 828-227-8911.
