About George Ford:

Professional interests include facilities management, hazardous waste management, air pollution control technologies, energy management and conservation methods, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and engineering materials. Dr. Ford enjoys fishing, gardening, reading civil war history, and spending time with his family.

George Ford, Ed.D., P.E., is an assistant professor in the construction management department in the Kimmel School of Construction Management and Technology at Western Carolina University. Since January of 2004, he has taught construction management and engineering technology courses at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. 

Dr. Ford is currently working on a doctorate degree in education and has research interests in strategic planning and in funding, budgeting, and spending in higher education. Professor Ford has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University (1984), an M.B.A. from Clemson University (1990), a Master of Engineering degree in Environmental and Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina (1999), and a Ed.D. in Education from Western Carolina University.  He is also a licensed professional engineer (mechanical) in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Dr. Ford worked for over fifteen years in the corporate world in plant engineering and environmental engineering positions. He taught civil and mechanical engineering technology course for four years at Spartanburg Technical College before joining Western Carolina University in 2004. His last corporate position was environmental manager for Cryovac Division of Sealed Air Corporation in Simpsonville, SC.

Dr. Ford managed numerous construction projects as a plant engineer in the paper, plastics and rubber industries including warehouses, manufacturing buildings and utilities infrastructures. He also managed utilities budgets exceeding $8 million per year. As an environmental manager, Dr. Ford worked on several energy conservation and sustainable manufacturing projects in addition to managing hazardous waste and pollution prevention programs.
