The event will bring together WCU faculty and members of the Canton community with the goal of identifying ways in which WCU can continue to collaborate with the town.

Canton’s government, community and business leaders will describe the kinds of projects with which they would like help, and WCU faculty and staff will describe the university’s capabilities to provide potential service-learning and community-based research projects.

“Together, we should continue to form the connections that will help revitalize Canton,” said William Richmond, WCU associate professor of computer information systems.

The first Canton Connections Faire was held last December. During the past three months, WCU faculty and students have worked with Canton organizations on several projects:

• Designed an information system to support the building inspection process.

• Prepared an analysis for Champion Credit Union, examining the feasibility of a new product.

• Submitted designs for new murals, and at least one will be painted based on town approval.

• Started discussions for a concert series by the WCU music department.

• Set tentative schedules for two play performances in the Colonial Theater.

• Planned for interior design faculty to work with the Canton Museum.
