Contingent Faculty
A large portion of Contingent Faculty excel in their pedagogical and scholarly work, affecting a high level of professionalism in their classrooms. Their work deserves acknowledgement and encouragement. We, therefore, offer this space as a mechanism through which all University faculty can find ways of improving, stabilizing, and funding their crucial roles in the WCU and higher education communities.
Our goals surround fostering teaching excellence through:
- Educating ourselves and the entire university community as to the status of non- and tenure-track faculty on this and other campuses.
- Researching and securing funding opportunities, when possible, for Contingent Faculty to participate in professional development.
- Researching and implementing plans and procedures to improve working conditions for Contingent Faculty across the entire WCU community.
- Providing support and connectivity for Contingent Faculty, viewing this sector of the overall faculty as a community whose separate issues should be represented and acknowledged.
