WCU to offer information sessions for engineering technology degree program
Western Carolina University will offer a series of information sessions for prospective students interested in its engineering technology degree program.

The undergraduate degree program enables individuals employed in business, industry and state-related occupations to pursue a four-year degree through part-time evening study. Instructional delivery will be a combination of live classes in Spindale and Hickory, supplemented by an online component.

Information sessions will be offered:

• 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, in Room 1138 of the Jack Hunt Campus Center at Cleveland Community College in Shelby.

• 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 17, in Room 209 of the Willard L. Lewis Lifelong Learning Center at Isothermal Community College in Spindale.

• 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies, 1990 Main Ave. SE in Hickory.

Students may enter the program at the beginning of any semester. Most students in the program have a two-year college degree, usually in a technical discipline, but those without an associate degree may obtain conditional acceptance to the program.

“Our distance programs allow students to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology while maintaining their jobs, families, and community responsibilities,” said Bill McDaniel, program director and assistant professor of engineering technology at WCU.

“Our graduates are able to upgrade their skills, advance their careers, and find new opportunities right here in Western North Carolina. It’s a great opportunity for students to be able to get their degrees in their local communities without driving a great distance,” said McDaniel.
