WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
Reading Services for School-Age Children
An outreach to the surrounding communities, the Reading Center provides two types of services for school-age children: a Reading Enrichment Program and an Individualized Enrichment Program.

The Reading Enrichment Program

The Reading Enrichment Program is offered in the fall and spring semesters to children who need strategies for becoming more proficient readers or for children who wish to enhance their reading strategies.

The fee per semester is $50.00. Partial scholarships and various payment schedules are available.

The number of placements in the group program is dependent upon the number of WCU students enrolled in EDRD 474/573; the number of individualized program placements is dependent upon the number of graduate assistants working in the Center each semester who have received the training necessary to work with our readers.

The Individualized Enrichment Program

The Individualized Enrichment Program is offered to individual students who have special needs or who cannot meet the time requirements of the Reading Enrichment Program.

Contact us for more information regarding placements or registration.
