Reading Services for Public School Districts
The Reading Center is dedicated to continuing professional development for the teachers of Western North Carolina. To help school districts accomplish this, we offer K-12 professional development in-service for a variety of needs including:
- Working with struggling readers
- Reading in the content areas
- Balanced literacy programs
- Critical literacy
- Using content trade materials in all classes
- Children’s and adolescent literature in all classrooms – including using literature circles
This professional development will be based on the needs of a specific school or district after consultation with district representative.
All in-service can be configured to meet grade-level spans.
Any of the in-service possibilities can also be set up for two five-hour sessions to meet the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements in reading.
