Horodner will discuss contemporary art and art trends and his experiences as a curator and gallery owner. Horodner is curator for ACAC, a leading contemporary art space in Atlanta that was recognized in 2007 by Atlanta magazine for its “fierce commitment to contemporary artists.”
Horodner recently organized “Talent Show,” the 2007 Atlanta biennial exhibition at ACAC. He also organized “Joe Sola: Taking a Bullet” and “Roger Ballen: Shadow Chamber” while curator for the Atlanta College of Art. As visual arts curator at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art from 2001-2004, he developed exhibitions with William Pope, Tony Tasset, Melanie Manchot and Luca Buvoli.
He was director of the Bucknell University Art Gallery in Lewisburg, Pa., and was co-owner and director of the Horodner Romley Gallery in New York City. He has contributed art writing to journals and magazines including Bomb, Dazed & Confused, Art Issues, Sculpture and New Observations.
Horodner will host a question-and-answer period and also will conduct critiques with graduate students in WCU’s masters in fine arts program. His visit is sponsored by WCU’s School of Art and Design.
