Information for Psychology Journal Contributors
The Western Carolina Journal of Psychology is a refereed electronic journal, primarily by and for university students. The journal will publish articles on all aspects of psychology. Increasingly, students are being asked to write and research more extensively in academia, and publication and presentation of student research is being required for application to graduate programs and positions in both the private and public sectors. This journal seeks to provide a quality, referred outlet for student publication. Papers may be submitted by sending them as an email attachment to either of the Faculty Editors.

Contributors for the electronic edition need observe the following instructions:

  • Three hard copies must be submitted to the editors. If the manuscript is accepted, the final copy must be submitted with revisions to the editors on a 3.5" disc. The manuscript must be in MS-Word 97 or a later version.
  • Due to the specific character of the medium, contributors are requested to limit their manuscripts as follows:
    * Articles, 2500 to 5000 words
    * Essays, 1000 to 2500 words
    * Book Reviews, 750-1500 words
  • The manuscript style is APA 4th.
  • Prior to publication, a draft version will be submitted to the author for proof reading.
  • The author or authors must be currently enrolled students (undergraduate or graduate) at the time of submission. The exceptions are that essays may be co-authored by a non student, so long as the student is the primary or first author.
  • The author will retain the copyright to her/his contribution. Due to the open nature of the electronic medium, contributions will, however, remain technically available for printing or copying from the Internet. It is presumed that the contributor is aware of this specific trait of the Internet.
