Hunter Scholar Award
This award is jointly provided by Hunter Library, Graduate School and Research, Educational Outreach, and the Office of the Provost. The Hunter Scholar Award provides release time and other support to support research primarily using library collections.
Award:
- Release time for one course in the fall semester and one course in the spring semester
- Full-time Graduate Research Assistant for the two semesters
- $400 support funds (can be used for supplies, travel, or other expenses related to the project as pre-approved by the Dean of Library Services)
- Study carrel in Hunter Library
Eligible:
- All full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members
Ineligible:
- Past recipients in the last five years
Deliverables:
- The recipient must develop the project in the fall semester with the Hunter Library faculty liaison associated with the recipient’s program/department. The recipient will present results the following fall semester separately to university community and the general public.
- The recipient must submit a final written summary the following spring to the Provost and the Dean of Library Services.
- The recipient is expected to serve on the following year’s Hunter Scholar selection committee.
Application:
- Application Due Date: March 15, 2008
- Complete Research Grants and Scholar Awards Application Form and mail original to John Hawes, Project Specialist, Research Administration, 109 Cordelia Camp Building, and email a copy at jhawes@email.wcu.edu.
Evaluation:
- The Hunter Scholar Award Committee will consist of the Associate Library Director, two members from the Research Council (one of whom will be the Library’s representative on the Council), a representative from Graduate School and Research, and the current Hunter Scholar. Award Committee recommendations will be provided to the Dean of Graduate School and Research as well as the Dean of Library Services.
