“We currently have presentations by individuals from on and off campus, and all have published and or presented in this field of study,” said Mickey Randolph, psychology professor at WCU, one of the conference organizers. “It is a great opportunity for students to present.”
This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Anna Fariello, director of the Craft Revival Project at WCU’s Hunter Library. Fariello’s address, titled “Woman-to-Woman: The Southern Craft Revival,” will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and will describe how women of the late 19th and early 20th century organized and focused on making and selling handmade products to help put money into the hands of their rural communities. She will also discuss the gender gap that these women faced in employment.
The conference will be held in the Grandroom of the University Center from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. It will include a roundtable discussion on this year’s theme, “Gender Gaps: Fact or Fiction,” as well as research presentations, workshops and a poster session from noon until 1 p.m.
The conference is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, Women’s Studies Program, Women’s Center and the department of psychology.
