Early Music Ensemble
Director: Dr. Robert Holquist
Early Music Ensemble is an auditioned group of sixteen singers. Their main performance each fall is to present the annual Madrigal Christmas Dinner, which has been a WCU tradition since 1970. All the music and dialog is done from memory, and in full Renaissance costume. Complete with jester, lord and lady, flourishing trumpet fanfares, and strolling minstrels, this production has long provided a fitting prelude to the Christmas season in Cullowhee. A cappella style from the Elizabethan era is the mainstay of their repertoire.
