Sarah Nunez is Western Carolina University’s new assistant director of admission housed in the Transfer Advising Center at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.
In her new role, Nunez, a 2002 graduate of A-B Tech, serves as a point of contact for any student interested in transferring to WCU.
The position is the latest example of a long-standing spirit of collaboration between Western and the state’s community colleges to provide a seamless transition for students seeking additional higher education opportunities, said Alan Kines, WCU director of undergraduate admission.
“A-B Tech and Western have been partners for many years in assisting students in reaching their educational goals. With the appointment of Sarah Nunez, we are taking that partnership to a new level of service,” Kines said. “Sarah is prepared fully to assist students, whether they are seeking to transfer from A-B Tech, enter WCU as a first-year student or learn by distance.”
Nunez works to provide students with the information they need on the process of applying for transfer enrollment, including programs and services offered by WCU.
“We talk about the programs of study at WCU and their course work at A-B Tech, as well as admission requirements for WCU,” she said. “We look at all the programs Western offers and show what students can do at the community-college level to get prepared for their junior and senior years. It’s a good move for Western Carolina University and A-B Tech to collaborate together for the overall benefit of the students.”
For information on transferring to Western, contact Nunez at (828) 254-1921, extension 182, or via e-mail at scnunez@email.wcu.edu.
