Culturally-based Health Certificate
We are working toward the creation of online courses that would constitute a culturally-based certificate for health care professionals in the areas of Indian Health Care Administration; Culture and History; Behavioral Health; and Clinical Care. This is a need that has been identified by the EBCI (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) and USET (United Southern and Eastern Tribes).

Currently we have one online course, Issues in Indian Health (first offered summer 2005). An online course on Native American Tobacco & Substance Use will be offered fall 2006. Other online courses will continue to be phased in and we hope to have the concentration in place by 2007.
Future course offerings will include:
- Indian Personnel Management
- Funding and Finance for Indian Health Programs
- Indian Health Law, Policy, and Self-Determination
- Cultural Congruent Patient Care and Tribal Protocol
- History of Indian Health Care and Services
- Counseling Approaches and Theory with American Indian Clients
- Co-occuring Disorders and American Indian Adolescents
- Intergenerational Trauma and American Indian Communities
- Caring for Elders
- Stress and Chronic Disease
- Primary Care of American Indian Patients
