With a theme of “A Sense of Place,” the photography contest, open to the general public, will allow contestants to compete for prizes donated by local vendors, while supporting the WCU Baptist Student Union. The student organization is sponsoring the contest to raise money for summer mission trips.
“I will base my judgment on which photographs best convey a ‘sense of place,’” said Griffin. “I’m looking forward to the experience of looking at the entries, and I hope the BSU has a good turnout for the contest.”
Each entrant must pay a $2 entry fee per submitted photo, and photos must be submitted on a CD. Photo files must be in JPEG format of at least 300 dpi, and to be qualified, photos most have been taken after Jan. 1, 2008. No computer editing will be allowed. When submitting photos, a contestant must include the title of the photograph, the name of the photographer with contact information, and an explanation of the photo. The deadline for entries for the contest is March 18.
Prizes will be provided by Nick and Nate’s of Sylva and Livingston’s Photo.
