WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
English Curriculum
WCU’s Department of English offers engaging and comprehensive courses designed for both English majors and students in other majors who wish to strengthen their abilities in writing and critical thinking, and develop an understanding of human motivations and communication.

Apart from teaching you the critical reading and writing skills so often demanded in today’s global economy, your English professors will use a hands-on approach to learning: our courses blend the best of a traditional English curriculum with practical applications and the latest technology. Not only do our students read Shakespeare and Shaw; they also learn how to write grants and handbooks. They build websites, publish literary journals, and write screenplays.

Students planning to enroll in one of the department’s graduate programs or undergraduate programs should refer to coursework and graduation requirements for these degrees.
