Students holding a bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) without a teaching license may apply for the licensure-only option for the above concentrations, depending on their undergraduate major. Some concentrations are available in the M.A.T. degree, providing both a master's degree and a teaching license.
Licensed teachers who are interested in pursuing a master's degree can gain additional credentials by pursuing the M.A.Ed. degree.
The NC teaching license is reciprocal with more than 40 other states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
