This is the first time any of the Catamount Concert Series concerts has ever had a sponsor, said P. Bradley Ulrich, assistant director of the WCU School of Music. “We are really excited to have their support,” Ulrich said.
Following the recital, there will be a reception hosted by Heinzelmannchen Brewery. The School of Music lobby receptions offer opportunities for people interested in the arts to discuss programs and performances.
Because of the variety of performers and pieces, the “Faculty Showcase” concerts are among the most popular concerts on campus, Ulrich said. The compositions are usually lighter and shorter in nature, making the program entertaining, he said.
The concert, part of the Catamount Concert Series, features various WCU music faculty members performing every Tuesday night throughout the school year. Performers on Jan. 29 include the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet, Eldred Spell (contrabass flute), Ian Jeffress (alto saxophone), Shannon Thompson (clarinet), Terri Armfield (oboe), Will Peebles (bassoon), Travis Bennett (horn), Michael Schallock (tuba), Robert Holquist (bass-baritone), Dan Cherry (trombone), Don Miller (saxophone), Dan Gonko (drums), Andrew Adams and Bruce Frazier (piano), and Stephen Wohlrab (guitar).
For more information, or if interested in sponsoring upcoming concerts, contact P. Bradley Ulrich at (828) 227-3274 or visit music.wcu.edu.
