WCU Programs in Asheville to hold Jan. 10 information session
Prospective students can learn about the 100 spring semester courses Western Carolina University will offer in Asheville during an information and registration session set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10.

WCU’s Programs in Asheville will host the event in Karpen Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Program advisers will be available to answer questions.

The spring course offerings provide opportunities for face-to-face, Web-enhanced and online instruction through courses such as “Forensic Techniques for Companies,” “Negotiating Effectively,” “African-American Literature,” “College Student Subcultures and Student Characteristics,” “Medicare and Medicaid,” “Health Communications,” “The Nonprofit Sector,” “Mathematical Modeling,” “Principles of Epidemiology,” “Curriculum Development” and “Advanced Topics in Macroeconomics: Studies of Financial Market Turmoil.”

Western offers more than 25 graduate programs in Asheville in the arts and sciences, accountancy, business administration, construction management, college student personnel, communication sciences and disorders, counseling, education, entrepreneurship, health sciences, human resources, mathematics, nursing, physical therapy, psychology, project management, public affairs, science and entrepreneurship, social work, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and technology. Undergraduate instruction is available in birth-kindergarten education, engineering technology and nursing.

Many graduate programs are still accepting applicants for the spring semester. Individuals interested in applying to graduate school should bring a transcript to the Jan. 10 session. Classes begin Monday, Jan. 14.
