WCU to offer aqua fitness class
Western Carolina University will offer “Aqua Fitness” in the Reid Gymnasium pool on campus Jan. 22 through May 1.
Classes will take place Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Participants will engage in a variety of aqua exercises designed to increase cardiovascular endurance.
“Water aerobics allow a person to exercise every muscle and every joint in the body all at the same time,” said Susan Fouts, director of continuing education at Western.
“The most important benefit of water aerobics is that almost anyone, no matter their age, can perform water aerobics,” Fouts said. “Because the water causes your body to be buoyant, this results in less strain and stress on your joints and muscles.”
Cost of the class is $50 for the general public, and $10 for WCU faculty and staff.
Registration is under way. Participants who do not pre-register for the first class may register for later classes.
For more information or to register, contact Fouts at (828) 227-3688 or visit the Web site http://learn.wcu.edu/.
