About Us
The Women's Center exists for, through, and because of all women in the campus community. We provide resources, support and advocacy for women as they empower themselves and each other and we are fully committed to the development of all students' potential. We encourage personal, social and intellectual growth within a diverse community by providing comprehensive programs, services, and outreach activities. This mission is accomplished by:
- collaborating with the department of Women's Studies, the Student Affairs Division, and numerous student organizations to promote a non-oppressive atmosphere in which all persons are free to affirm and celebrate their differences
- designing specific programs which reflect a wide range of viewpoints and provide peer support; educational programs, and role models that will help women students complete their education successfully, explore options in their lives, and facilitate their personal growth and development as whole persons.
- acting as a highly visible campus clearing house for information and resources
increase awareness and understanding of multicultural women's concerns and gender equity issues, including an emphasis on how these affect both women and men. - enriching the campus by providing a forum for the cultural, spiritual, aesthetic intellectual, and social lives of students
- advocating the removal of barriers which inhibit the full participation of women in the community
- providing a non-threatening environment for women to seek assistance and referral with personal crises, including, but no limited to, sexual harassment from fellow students, faculty, or staff; rape or sexual assault; and dating or relationship issues.
- encouraging both men and women toward greater involvement in social justice issues as leaders, allies, and agents of change on campus and in the world.
