The Modern Foreign Languages department sponsors an annual foreign language competition for regional high school students. Last year’s contest—the 25th annual!—drew in about 375 high school students from across western North Carolina and northeastern Georgia. This year’s contest promises to be just as comprehensive and exciting.
The contest is designed to test students’ knowledge of French and Spanish, and matches individuals and teams from regional schools in categories like art and music, and also pits teams against each other in two Quiz Bowls, one for native speakers and one for non-native speakers.
The department’s students, faculty, and staff, along with volunteers from other departments on campus, serve as judges in the competition.
