Modern Foreign Languages Undergraduate Minors
If you’re interested in studying foreign languages or other cultures but have declared a major with another department or are interested in majoring in another area, we encourage you to consider one of our undergraduate minors.

A minor in a foreign language will give your education an international dimension, and perhaps even an edge in the job market.

A minor in German and Spanish requires only 21 hours of credit, six of which can be earned at the intermediate level, either by taking MFL 231 and 232, or by taking MFL 240, a one-semester accelerated section worth six credit hours.

The minor is an excellent option for those students whose degree programs require two years of language study since upon completion of the second year they will need only 15 more hours. These are comprised of MFL 301 and 302 (“Topics of the Hispanic World I & II” or “German for Everyday Use I & II” ) and nine hours of electives at the 300 and 400 levels.
