The fundraiser will get under way at 3 p.m. at the WCU picnic area. All runners will receive a Santa hat, elf hat or deer antlers to wear on their heads, and jingle bells to wear on their shoes. Hot chocolate, apple cider and water will be provided at the end of the race.
Half of the proceeds from the race will be added to the scholarship fund of the Sport Management Association, a student organization on campus. The remainder of the proceeds will be used to help a local family with medical bills.
Entry fees are $10 for students, $15 for non-students who register before race day, and $20 for those who register at the race. The entry fee is $10 for “phantom” runners who do not wish to run, but would like to contribute to the effort.
Check-in and registration will begin at 2 p.m. on race day.
