Biography:
Dr. Davis earned his doctorate in comparative and theoretical criminal justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to teaching at Western Carolina University he taught at the University of West Georgia for eight years and was department head at N.C. Wesleyan for two-and-a-half years. He held a position as a psychologist at a maximum-security correctional facility in Georgia.
Professor Davis has taught at WCU for 24 years, receiving numerous teaching awards and serving on many national, state, and University committees. He also was acting department head for the Department of Criminal Justice.
Dr. Davis brings practical application to his courses in corrections, drug abuse, crime theory, and peacemaking criminology. His research interests include morality and law and peacemaking criminology.
Dr. Davis had almost thirty years’ experience in international education, coordinating summer courses in London. His extra-curricular interests include: sports cars, 4 x 4’s, motorcycling, and home theater. He travels extensively and loves attending festivals and concerts with his “spouse” Renee. Mathew, Duane’s son, was recently graduated from Appalachian State University.
Dr. Davis will retire in May 2008.
