Constance Schulz, professor and co-director of the public history program at the University of South Carolina, will present “‘I’d Rather Shoot with a Camera than a Gun!’ – Women Photographers of World War II” at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the auditorium of WCU’s Mountain Heritage Center.
The presentation, open to the public and illustrated with wartime photographs, is being given in conjunction with the museum’s “After the War” exhibit, which will be on display through the end of the year.
In addition to her classroom teaching, Schulz has been a Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Genoa and at York University, and has earned National Endowment for the Humanities and Teaching American History grants for her work with public school educators.
While in Cullowhee, Schulz also will meet with a WCU public history class and lead a workshop for students and the staff of the Mountain Heritage Center. Her visit, part of WCU’s Visiting Scholar Program, is sponsored by the department of history, Graduate School and Mountain Heritage Center.
