Corey Dolgon, professor and chair of the department of sociology at Worcester State College in Worcester, Mass., will lead the program set for 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of WCU’s Mountain Heritage Center.
A longtime labor activist and community organizer in issues of poverty and social justice, Dolgon uses folk songs to build solidarity and engage students in the classroom. His singing lecture covers labor history from a multicultural perspective and examines the function of folk songs in workers’ lives, labor and organization.
Part of WCU’s Visiting Scholars Program, Dolgon’s presentation is being sponsored by the university’s department of anthropology and sociology, Office of the Provost and Mountain Heritage Center.
