The greatest advantage of being in The Honors College is the community of some 1,400 high-achieving students who care about what they are doing at WCU, whatever major, research, creative work, or other activities they enjoy. Social life in the College is recorded in the Honors Yearbook.
Home to some 300 students and the center for most Honors social activities, Reynolds Hall was The Honors College residence from 1997 to 2009.
The current home for The Honors College is Balsam Hall, located at the center of campus with room for 400 students, opened in the fall of 2009. The second half of this building complex, Blue Ridge Hall, will open fall 2010.
Off-campus, with places like Asheville, Cherokee, Dillsboro, Highlands, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park nearby, you will find everything from unique shopping to a huge variety of outdoor sports. Closer to home, Sylva has what you need and every day there are on-campus activities, including intramural sports and cultural activities at the Fine and Performing Arts Center and the Ramsey Center.
