Comprehensive Elementary Education, M.A.Ed.

This program is for teachers who have an "A" level elementary education teaching license.

The Comprehensive Elementary Education M.A.Ed. degree requires 18 hours in the Professional Core hours, 18 hours in Elementary Education and a satisfactory portfolio demonstrating advanced competencies for all concentrations.

Candidates with current National Board Certification in the concentration area have demonstrated advanced competencies and are exempted from the required portfolio.

Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree with a concentration in Elementary Education and recommendation for Advanced Competencies licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for teaching at the elementary level (K-6).

Comprehensive Middle Grades Education, M.A.Ed.

This program is for teachers who have an "A" level middle grades education teaching license.

The Comprehensive Middle Grades Education M.A.Ed. degree requires 18 hours in the Professional Core hours, 18 hours in Middle Grades Education and a satisfactory portfolio demonstrating advanced competencies for all concentrations.

Candidates with current National Board Certification in the concentration area have demonstrated advanced competencies and are exempt from the required portfolio.

Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree with a concentration in middle grades and recommendation for Advanced Competencies licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for teaching at the middle level (6-9).
