WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
M.A.Ed. in Middle Grades Education
Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree with a concentration in middle grades and recommendation for Advanced Competencies licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for teaching in the middle grades.
Candidates for the M.A.Ed. are also required to successfully complete a portfolio that demonstrates advanced competencies. Candidates who have earned National Board Certification for a licensure area in middle grades have already demonstrated advanced competencies and are exempt from the portfolio requirement.
