When you complete a middle grades education degree at Western, you’ll earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) and licensure for teaching in two subject areas (PDF) in grades six through nine. You can combine two academic concentrations from a diverse list that includes English/language arts, science, social studies, and mathematics.
If you’re already a middle grades teacher with an earned undergraduate degree in middle grades education, you may be interested in the Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree.
Students who have earned bachelor’s degrees in a field other than education can choose to work on a degree in Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.). You could also earn a second bachelor's degree without having to complete a new set of core requirements.
