The faculty of elementary and middle grades education are passionate about education. We share the constructivist educational philosophy that the individual learner must actively "build" knowledge and skills. Children are more than future employees and learning is more than standardized tests. Our teaching reflects that philosophy.
Our mission: to promote excellence in teaching and caring from kindergarten through young adolescents. We value social justice and empowerment for all students and those who work with them. We engage in scholarly research and composition within the issues of our communities and explore and share the effective ways that teachers do their work well. Our faculty members specialize in literacy, mathematics, curriculum, science, social studies, early childhood, and cyberspace thinking.
