At a young age, Shannon was diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes syndrome, a degenerative disease of the hip, and has since used crutches for his mobility. However, refusing to let his disability limit him, Shannon began experimenting with dance and incorporated his crutches in his hip-hop routines.
Shannon has worked with Cirque du Soleil and choreographed part of its 2002 production of “Varekai,” which currently is touring around the world. He also has performed on stages throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, as well on many college and university campuses.
The Nov. 1 performance is free and open to the public.
