In addition to teaching at Western Carolina University, Ruth Bennett is a professional consultant and trainer and an online instructor for the University of North Carolina's LearnNC program, teaching teachers how to teach online. She is also an online instructor for the University of Phoenix. Ruth's primary work for many years has been to provide training, executive coaching, and consulting in communication and the management of people to a wide variety of organizations. Ruth had her own company, doing the sales and marketing, contracting, program development, delivery, and evaluation of services. This work gave her insights into working people at all levels and organizations of all types, insights that she hopes will enhance her students’ learning time.

During her work life, Ruth has also taught at a number of Boston area colleges, been a college administrator, worked with high risk inner city children, provided career counseling and training to women wanting to re-enter the job market, and directed tours and cruises in the United States and Canada. She likes challenges and is a great fan of growth and change.

Ruth earned both her B.A. and M.A. from Emerson College, a communication arts and sciences college, and has published in professional journals in Canada and the United States.

Her goal is to facilitate our students’ learning and to help them succeed in reaching their professional communication goals. It’s an exciting adventure! Do join us.
