Nutrition and Dietetics, B.S.
The Nutrition and Dietetics, B.S. program is a 120-hour undergraduate degree program accredited by the American Dietetic Association.
Students may declare a major in nutrition and dietetics when they have completed, or are concurrently completing, all liberal studies and program pre-requisites. However, there are two concentrations in nutrition and dietetics, a Registered Dietitian concentration and a Community Health concentration. The Registered Dietitian concentration is accredited by CADE (Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education) for the American Dietetic Association (ADA). This concentration prepares a student for an internship that is required to become a registered dietitian. The Community Health concentration prepares the student to work in nutrition in health related positions that do not require the registered dietitian status. To be admitted to the ADA accredited Registered Dietitian concentration, students must formally apply and meet the requirements.
B.S. graduates are eligible to apply for an internship. Upon completion, they are eligible to take the national certification exam to become a registered dietitian (RD).
Students who complete the undergraduate nutrition major requirements MUST meet the requirements for and complete the internship at the master’s level in order to become a registered dietitian.

Because the American Dietetic Association (ADA) requires an internship and the responsibilities for dietitians are ever increasing, we strongly encourage our qualified undergraduates to continue into our graduate program and become registered dietitians.
Minor in Nutrition and Dietetics
The minor requires 18-22 hours and eight hours of approved electives.
