Admission Requirements
Students who pursue the Master of Health Sciences (MHS) degree must be officially admitted to graduate study at Western Carolina University.
Application Deadlines
Fall March 1st

for Graduate Assistant Positions *

Admission Criteria
- Cumulative grade point average of "B" or higher in all upper-level undergraduate coursework.
- Satisfactory scores on the verbal, quantitative and analytical portions of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
Minimum scores are:
Test Taken Verbal Quantitative Analytical Writing
Before Aug. 2011 400 400 3.5
After Aug. 2011 146 146 3.5
- Three letters of recommendation from instructors or employers who are able to judge aptitude for graduate study.
- A ‘Statement of Goals & Experiences’ essay (Word)
Admission Procedure
Applicants to the MHS program must submit a complete application for admission to the Graduate School according to procedures stated in the Graduate Catalog. Application forms and materials are available on the graduate school website and by clicking the Apply Now button.
Students wishing to apply for admission to the Dietetic Internship must be admitted to the MHS program and complete a separate Dietetic Internship application for selective admission. For further information, contact the Dietetic Internship Program.
