Attention Campus Students: The HIA Program is phasing out its campus-based option. The last class will be accepted for Fall 2010.
Students interested in the two-year, health information technology degree (HIT) can locate programs at our accrediting body, CAHIIM.
Application to the online RHIT-to-HIA option:
Admission to the HIA Program requires two applications.
- Students begin the process by applying to Western using the WCU undergraduate distance application.
-
Once students are admitted to Western and have received an ID number (92#), the Program application can be submitted. Links to the application are located in the right-hand column.
To be eligible to apply, students must have at least an AAS in HIT and hold a current RHIT credential.
Personal qualifications include a keen intellect, initiative, organization, above average ability for standards of accuracy of detail, and administration and communication skills. Time management skills are key to success in an online program.
Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and students may start with any semester. Entry to Program courses is in the Fall. Students entering in other semesters begin with liberal studies (general education) courses.
Students interested in the program should contact the program director.
